"I have been so fortunate to collaborate with Worldbuilders & General Pencil Company to introduce to you the “Art-ificer’s Sketch Kit”. Bringing together the geek & artist communities is incredibly exciting! Worldbuilders is such a force for doing good in the world. In these challenging times, they have inspired me to do my part in making the world a better place. General Pencil Company manufactures the high quality drawing materials that have been essential in my journey as an artist.

Together, we have created a drawing kit and tutorials that can help you find your artistic voice. Included in this kit are 10 hand-selected premium artist drawing tools along with a trifold detailing drawing fundamentals and the best practices for the materials in the kit, where I share my technical knowledge about the medium.

I will have also recorded 4 separate video tutorials, exclusively available with this kit, taking you through drawing basics and how to apply them to any subject! Each video in the series shares more advanced techniques as you progress, ranging from E’lir (Beginner), Re’lar (Intermediate), El’the (Advanced), and Arcanist (Expert) levels."

“Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.”

Professional Portrait Artist

This is a standalone kit, but if there is interest we will be expanding with further materials and videos for more art education in 2022!

Julia Maddalina is a traditional portrait artist and fantasy illustrator. In addition to traveling the United States giving lectures, classes, drawing & material demonstrations she works in a mix of commissions, freelance work, creating gallery show pieces, and educational content.

Her work has been recognized internationally and is accomplished in many mediums. You can find her work in art magazines, books, and in fine art prints.

"My passion for the arts has been fueled by fine art portraiture & illustration from a very young age. By the age of 12, enthusiasm for learning prompted seeking out instruction from artists in the community & participating in gallery shows with community art organizations.

I’ve spent the last 14 years studying portraiture in oil paint from artists from around the country and have brought this knowledge to my illustrative work. I have been attending the Portrait Society of America Conference, as well as other portrait painting workshops since the age of 15. I attended on a full scholarship and graduated with a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2018 with a major in Illustration in hopes of incorporating the narratives I loved into my paintings. As well as taking on a minor in Biomedical Illustration to improve the anatomy of the figures and portraits in my work.

I was featured in South African Artists Magazine as an International Artist in 2019, recognized in Southwest Artists Magazine as “21 Under 31 Artists to Watch” in 2014. Received recognition from the Portrait Society of America in their Members Only Competition in 2019 and 2020, and in 2022 with a recognition in the “Select 50” category of the International Competition, among many other recognitions and awards.

Since the pandemic, I’ve found myself working with numerous charities such as Worldbuilders, Jasper’s Game Day, The Hispanic Federation, the Pablove Foundation, and Project HOPE, using my work to further support their causes whenever I am able to.

In addition to traveling the United States giving lectures, classes, and demonstrations on how to draw with General Pencil Company, I’m working on a mix of commissions, freelance work, gallery show pieces, and creating educational content.

I aim to keep inspiring young artists and telling great narratives through the medium of portraiture." - Julia Maddalina
